The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The "faces" of phalaenopsis orchids fascinate me and these Maki Wantanabe have a beautiful blush color. The sunlight hitting them in my garden drew me to this painting. This is the first botanical I have painted in oil and I love the manipulation of the paint into the veins, blush coloring and highlights.
