Artist's Description
Painted on location on the north shore of Anna Maria Island, FL this gull and home depict the Florida of years gone-by. Many varieties of shore birds cruise the area but the most comical are the gulls. I photographed this one (after repeated tosses of popcorn) on Bean Point as it was coming in for a landing. The original painting contains grains of the white Gulf sand as the wind came up unexpectedly.
About Joan Garcia
An artist in the Tampa Bay area, Joan has artwork in corporate and private collections nationally and internationally. Having lived in Miami, Costa Rica, Texas, and finally returning to Florida, she has been working professionally in fine art and portraiture for over 40 years. Having participated in numerous shows she has won both patron, People's Choice and Best of Show awards. Her body of work stretches from realistic landscapes and still life paintings in oil and acrylic to portraits in colored pencil.
