Artist's Description
Family "TRADITIONS" are at the heart of the Latin Culture and this painting combines my art with our celebrations of food over the years. I became a Garcia over 30 years ago and was swept into the traditions of Latin food in Tampa. Also living in Miami added it's own Latin flavors. From Miami we moved to Costa Rica and I still miss the restaurants and their national dish "gallo pinto". So...all the items in this painting have particular significance. Like many families we'll carry these recipes and memories with us through the years.
About Joan Garcia
An artist in the Tampa Bay area, Joan has artwork in corporate and private collections nationally and internationally. Having lived in Miami, Costa Rica, Texas, and finally returning to Florida, she has been working professionally in fine art and portraiture for over 40 years. Having participated in numerous shows she has won both patron, People's Choice and Best of Show awards. Her body of work stretches from realistic landscapes and still life paintings in oil and acrylic to portraits in colored pencil.
